Bali: Day 2

Day 2: 7am, raingin cats and dogs... So fear that our activities will be cancelled.

What a depressing scene. It was raining that morning when we woke up... and we thought the rain deity hated Bali!

Soon after... the rain stopped and our frowns turned upside down.

Some breakfast.... well.. we weren't expecting too much.
Before our trip, we hired a tour guide to bring us around Bali. Our activities include snorkling, a visit to turtle island, lunch at Tanjung Benoa, visits to GARUDA WISHNU KENCANA(GWK), Palawa beach, Uluwatu and last but not least, a sunset dinner at Jimbaran Bay.

This is the boat that brought us to the deeper areas of the sea for us to do our snorkeling. We were given some bread to feed the fishes. This boat even has a transparent bottom so people can see how dirty and the water is!!!!

SNORKLING TIME!

This is our first time doing snorkeling. Which means this is the first time we actually used flippers to swim. I swim well in swimming pools but not here out in the sea, and the flippers on my feet made things worse. We are supposed to have someone to coach us how to go about doing this activity. In the end we were just left alone to dive straight into the water like Navy SEALs.

Nemo nemo.

This is just junk.

See those wearing that big ugly orange helmets? They are doing this activity called "Sea Walking".

The place wasn't beautiful at all.

Next stop: Turtle Island

Young turtles!

More Turtles!

Went around and took pictures with the animals there. The guy in red was our guide on the island. Poor service from him.

Batman

Bird sadly being chained for tourist attraction. Cruelty!

We were brought to a bench and the guy in red(mentioned previously) showed us a note. The note had a few languages printed on it. Basically the note just said "DONATE", "PAY ME", "YOU BETTER DONATE OR YOU DIE".... something like that (he doesn't give a shit about you claiming that you have already paid for the visit to this island) . The attitude we got from that guide in red was utterly terrible. We were not the only ones arguing and claiming that we have already paid for the visit to that island, a few tourists were also forced to pay up.  I myself almost wanted to grab a turtle to whack him in the balls. Go on, scroll up to take one more look at that guide and remember his face!

 Next stop: Lunch
It's a simple buffet at this beautiful place.

GARUDA WISHNU KENCANA(GWK), the cultural park in Bali. The place is still under construction when we were there. Only parts of the statue was completed. The final product should be a GIGANTIC statue of Vishnu Garuda.

Next: Palawa beach

This beach was a fantastic place! Nice soft sand, clear waters, hot & sunny, everything you can expect from a nice beach. The beach was extremely crowded that day. Close your eyes and point to a direction, you'll probably have your fingers in someone's nose.

Clear seawater. A rare sight for city dwellers like us in Singapore.

Beautiful!!

Next stop: Uluwatu, which is located at the edge of the cliff.

Awesome view of the great Indian Ocean..

See that little temple at the center of the picture? More views in the collage above. Missing the place already!

On the way to Jimbaran Bay for dinner, saw this and took a picture of it. Yes, again, its the Vishnu Garuda.

Another sunset view of the day. Looking at it was just mesmerising for us. We seldom get to see the sunset here in Singapore where everywhere is blocked by buildings.

Our dinner, not as sumptuous as the first day but it was still good.

End of Day 2

Bali: Day 1

This was what we saw on Groupon. So we decided to take on this deal and go for a short getaway......
To Bali!!!

I believe most of us, whenever we have the chance to travel for leisure, will be so excited that we tend to behave like tourists even when we are still in our home country. That is why we took a few photos of the scenes here in Singapore's Changi Airport. This may seem a little redundant for some people, but looking at these photos after the trip really brings back some good memories. Remembering how excited we were while waiting for our departure flight to Bali, the excitement was just memorable!

Some scenes at the Denpasar Airport in Indonesia. The above picture shows Lord Vishnu sitting on a Garuda. A symbolic statue of the Indonesian tradition. Nice!!

Some Balinese Hero. Forgot about his story.

Another Balinese Hero......

Some shots of our villa that we stayed in for 4 days. Nice, simple, and comfortable place with good room service. Whenever you feel the heat gets unbearable, you can just jump straight into the small pool just outside the living room.

Breakfast is provided every morning and this is what you get. Well, disappointing but at least it satisfies your hunger. Make your order the day before and give them a time to be delivered to your room. BUT they are always not punctual to send your breakfast on time...

A nice place to stay in, but the scene you get when you look out of the villa every morning  may be disappointing to many. It is just quite horrible to be frank.

Nice sunset. The man in the picture is selling some barbeque corns.

We told the villa staff that we wanted to go to the beach to have our dinner and they arranged a car to send us there. We were wondering "wow such a nice service" and when we reached there we then realised that we had no choice to choose which restaurant to go to. It was actually selected by the driver.

The sunset was really great. Had some seafood for dinner. We really enjoyed our time at the beach that evening. Tips: Remember to bargain if you can! We managed to bargain just a little but luckily the food came out good. The restaurant also arranged transport for us back to the villa.

This is the night view from the pool. The water was a little chalky and obviously it was a little different from what we saw from the web (as seen from first pic).
